It's not unusual to find Orthos with earlier tonearms. The support brackets on the Orthos are pot metal and break or crumble long before the rest of the machine. People just grabbed the tonearm from Grandma's old machine in the attic and plugged it in. Problem solved (not).

If I were anywhere near there I'd already be on the phone...

That machine has been on Craigslist for a very long time. Seller just relisted it. If you want it I'm sure it will still be there because there has been no interest.

I don't remember but I think there has been conversation about this one here before. I remember the picture with the knife (or whatever it is) laying inside. I live within a 20 minute drive from this one but have no room for another project.

So why do you think that is? From what I can see of the machine, it seems to be in decent shape and the price reasonable.
I thought that Orthophonic design was a big step forward in sound reproduction with the Credenza being a popular one.

If the cabinet and motor are in decent condition ( no loose veneer, major gouges / chips ), it is worth $100-$150.

Tone arms turn-up frequently on E-bay, and a usable Orthophonic reproducer can usually be had for under $100.

Be warned - it is a big machine, so it does take-up quite a bit of room.
