I can't help much with the floor crane on the left. I've never seen a lower section like that on a floor crane. The upper assembly is a Halliday Hardware Co. design, which was first offered as part of a floor crane (but with a different lower section) as the "Imperial Horn Stand." First advertised in The Phonoscope in April 1900, and briefly marked by Columbia. The distinctive folding upper assembly was used again in the Chicago Horn Support of 1905.

The floor crane on the right is a Hawthorne & Sheble product, and first offered by Columbia in late 1899 as the "No.1." This was a popular floor crane and remained in the Columbia catalog until at least 1909.

George-

Thanks for the info. The crane on the right is the one I wanted to use on a Columbia AD with a Syracuse Wood Horn but wasn't sure if the dates coincided. Sounds like they do. Plus you have shed light on why the left crane wouldn't stand or operate correctly...a miss-match of parts it seams.

Good to know.

The one on the left is suppose to look that way. Is just not round like the other one.
