MY NEWEST FIND! AMBEROLA V

Post by flashpanblue »

Here are some pictures of the Oak Amberola V I picked up today. The cabinet will need some minor repairs and refinishing but is not damaged and even still has the four turned wooden feet. The motor , bedplate and reproducer are in decent shape although very dirty and gummed up. The veneer on the front and back of top of the lid has lifted and will need regluing. The veneer on one side of the cabinet has split and bubbled a bit. These are the only repairs the cabinet will need. It did not come with a crank but I had a spare that will do for now. I paid $200 with the agreement that if the seller found the original crank I will pay him an extra $50 for it. What do you think? Here are some pictures.

Nice score for $200. It looks like it will clean up pretty nicely. This model isn't too common.
Congrats!!! :D

Great find! Looks very complete and the bedplate paint, usually quite fragile, seems to be in excellent shape.

If you don't mind, please add it to the little Amberola V registry we've got, here:

Thanks.

Nice machine. I'm glad you got it. A little rough on the outside, but should turn out nicely. The inside looks great. Please share your progress.

Thanks
Andreas

Does look like a nice survivor and that Radiola 103 speaker in the back round, really looks nice as well.

$200 was a great price. That machine is rare enough to merit a proper refinishing by a professional if you don't know how. That is what I would have to do. I am a good mechanic but not a good refinisher.

That is a beauty! I think I would clean it up and show it as-is. It has honest wear and enough of the original finish to save. I like a little character though. What are your plans with it ?
