It appears to be a common model. What is the selling price?

What is the model number on the plate at the right rear of the turntable compartment, in the form VV-??, and what is the asking price?

If you don't have one, and it's cheap, go for it... However, if your wife REALLY doesn't want it, you may never live it down... just saying...
I'm saying this from experience...

I don't see a lock on the lid, so this is probably a VV-X or VV-80. Both are quite common and can be found on Craigslist frequently in the $100 range. Both are perfectly fine, basic workhorse players as well.

Looks like it could be an X, with the integral bottom curve on the record storage doors. Later model with "fat tone arm." Doesn't look like an Exhibition sound box; maybe a no. 2? Just guessing.....

, but when wife and brain are in conflict I just do what she says. I think I have learned something after 53+ years of marriage.
Later: forget the IX. As others have pointed out, it only came as a table-top. Definitely not a XI, IMO

It's a VV-X, you can tell by the lower doors. I can spot the Exhibition reproducer and the earlier speed control without the indicator. Certainly a workhorse as pointed out and perfectly nice machines. I had one for years as a kid.

If you bring it home the wife will kill you - once you're 6 feet under the ground she will sell the darn thing for $50 and go on match.com and replace you with a new model. I would say stay away

Definitely buy it ! There may be a solar flare tomorrow , and then there will be no electricity , no TV , BUT you will be able to send your wife out earning money or swapping food by playing records at parties
