I would like to buy a restorable Dictaphone shaving machine, with or without the motor.Rust is ok but, the top board needs to be complete with cutter. Thanks

That's a model 7 there in the picture.
Those are now getting somewhat harder to find
and rarer, and more costly. In my opinion, the
pictured model 7 is the best choice.

Later models include the model 10, and then
later still are the "Cameo" series.

Both the 10 and the Cameo have more tin covers bolted
on, and they also have the linkage which operates
from the end-gate which forces the blank off of the
mandrel and also it resets the depth of the cutter.

The 10 and the cameo had lots of special stuff
added to make them operable by unskilled labor.

The old model 7 from the 1920s is all manually
operated, and it requires skill and finesse to get
the most from it.

What will likely turn up will be a 10 or some one
of the Cameo models. They are nice machines but
one must be careful to remove the "cylinder-destroyer"
shoe, which pushes the blank off every time the gate
is opened. That will promptly break a big chunk out
of a blank.

I prefer the all-manually operated version if possible but, I'll probably take what I can find. I dont have a huge budget to spend on one so, hoping that someone has one collecting dust and rust that they can part with.

HearseDriver:

What kind of a shaver did you find?
What kind of shape is it in?
What model is it?

Sorry for 20 questions, I am just curious is all.
