FOR SALE - Edison B-19 Chalet DD Phonograph w/ Extras - $450

Post by brianu »

I've got an extra Edison B-19 I've decided to let go, it's the large tabletop model also known as the Bungalow or Chalet. It's an extremely clean example, with a reddish mahogany finish. It even retains its original grill cloth. The reproducer has been rebuilt, it's actually a pretty nice antique bronze version... it plays perfectly. There are a couple of small chips on the top of the lid, and a couple of small areas of loose veneer that could be reglued, but these hardly detract.

I'd like $450 for it, which is pretty much what I have into it - purchased it a few years ago from another forum member. I'll post some photos tonight. If interested, send me a message or email at brianu73 at Hotmail. This can be picked up in Woodbury, NJ, or I can bring it to the next antique phonograph show in Wayne NJ in April.

That is a very nice looking Edison B-19 that you have there. Your Serial Number is pretty low which should place it as a earlier one made around 1919. If I did not already have two of these (Natural and Rouge), I would take it.

I urge anyone that desires a nice Edison Diamond Disc machine that has limited space, or desires a tabletop Edison that is easier to pack up and move to consider this machine.

These B-19's use the direct drive (gear driven) turntable, and you can even connect a mute ball on these machines.

I think it will not last long.

Good luck!

Thanks Jerry... I wouldn't think of selling this if I didn't have another... and usually, like you, one is often not enough, but I just made a couple unexpected purchases that really drained the account.

Looks like a super clean example, just the way you like to find them. I'd love to have it too but suffer from similar bank account and space issues. Good luck with your sale.

The sun was out this morning so I tried to take a few more shots in better light. I'll also throw in a stack of 20 or so random diamond discs if it helps.

This is a very nice example of a B-19. Someone really should buy this thing!

I found a decent and functioning (no swollen pot metal, etc.) unrestored lateral adapter with an attached reproducer in a parts drawer (it actually appears to swivel as well so as to accept a sapphire needle to also play Pathé discs)... I'm not sure of the brand, but it's nickel-plated and the plating is good, that I'll include with this deal if anyone is interested. I'll snap a photo tonight.

I'll include this unrestored adapter that looks like it will play both lateral cut 78s and vertical cut Pathés.
