My latest standard 4 latch
Latest addition to the family a Edison Standard 4 latch ... This one took a while. I still have two more in the cooker to be finished later Tom B

Re: My latest standard 4 latch
I really dig these early "latch" "square" Standards and Homes because of the early- early geekdom. Thanks for sharing this.
Have you noticed that the Edison signature and bedplate stencils on these earlies is slightly different than the new style 1901- on machines? I got a set of supposedly correct decals for my 2 clip but they are just subtly different than the originals. I think I am going to freehand over the originals rather than use the decals because I just won't be able to stand it if I know I used something slightly different even if nobody else ever notices, LOL.
Interesting mount for the crane, BTW. Never saw that style before.

Re: My latest standard 4 latch
I got a Edison stencil from Greg for my home suitcase and it seemed to match. I did not compare the ones to the standards which may be different. I will dig a couple out and compare them. It is an interesting point. I wonder if the two latch are different than the four latch ??? Tom B

I really haven't noticed much of a difference in the signature. However the corner decorations on the earliest machines look to have been made with something like a flat-nibbed pen rather than the thinner brush strokes on the later machines. They were all hand made, so I expect it's rather difficult for the reproduction decals to look exactly like the real thing considering all the possible variation.
