Where is the "G." in the Byron G. Harlan announcement?

Post by EdisonSquirrel »

I was surprised to hear the following announcement on Edison 2-minute cylinder 8733: "Just a gleam of heaven in her eyes, sung by Byron Harlan, Edison Record." I have never before heard an announcement for a Harlan cylinder where his middle initial was omitted!

Hm, yes, you don't hear that too often, but I know I've got at least one without the "G". I can't possibly tell you which one it is without listening to them all, which isn't possible right now!

Although he was known on records as Byron G. Harlan, his name actually was George Byron Harlan. ;) Bob Ault
