Horn bags
Excuse the tattered subject of this scan. It is the remains of a sleeve dating from 1908. It has literally come apart, but I wanted to capture something I, in my 40-plus years in this hobby, had never heard of: Horn bags. Accessories -- there's really nothing new under the sun, be it your iPhone case or ear buds or your gramophone or phonograph needing protection for the horn.

Re: Horn bags
We showed an interesting original surviving horn bag on page 19 of Antique Phonograph Gadgets Gizmos, and Gimmicks. It even has a built-in sleeve to hold a crane. There's a wicker horn basket on page 17 of Antique Phonograph Accessories & Contraptions.

Re: Horn bags
Here are a couple of pages from the the Iver Johnson Talking Machine Supplies catalog depicting Cloth Horn Covers. They were offered in many sizes from 14 inches, all the way up to 56 inches.
These and some other accessories will be featured in an upcoming article in The Antique Phonograph

That's the same illustration used on the record sleeve and the Hawthorne & Sheble catalog (retailed by Iver Johnson).

Re: Horn bags
Saw this the other day (on ShopGoodWill) and it reminded me of this topic...
I VERY much doubt this is nothing more than a part of one of those clever new iPod speakers? (But it is, none-the-less, a horn bag!)
