A friend would like some info about their Freeman Talking Machine Company from Nashville, Tennessee. Don't see many phonographs from Nashville, this is the first Freeman I have seen.
Thanks! Cliff

I like it - since I like off-brands better than name brands

I'm crazy interested in getting one, and "victorIIvictor" provided me with some information awhile back. This was the only early upright brand ever made in TN. (Even though it was a decal brand)
Some interesting links about the Freeman Talking Machine Co. of Nashville Tennessee:
The right-hand column of the December, 1918 issue of Packages, page 26, shows they were around to capitalize on the post- WWI phonograph boom:

The Tennesseean newspaper from 21 December, 1919 has an advertisement (but you've got to sign up for a free trial to get a good gander at it)

The Tennesseean again, from 15 August 1920… Tough to tell what is on this page

A factory fire in 1922, likely the end of the line for this company (phonograph glut + economic recession + factory fire):

This Music Trades article (lower right hand corner of page 21 of the 12 August, 1922 issue) about the same 8 August, 1922 fire notes that Freeman Talking Machine was the only company of its kind in Nashville:
