Post by chrisg »

I just picked up a super rare Edison "short legged floor model" off ebay for $30.00 . the lady said it is a factory cabinet and has not been modified  . any way 30 bucks and 15 miles each way it's mine. to my surprise the reproducer was inside the horn area. it does play fine and hey , do you have a rare edison short leg phonograph :D

Short floor models ARE (fortunately) very rare, since they were made as "salesman's samples" and for the very limited market of small circus performers...

You still did good with this "Rare Short Legged" Edison. The parts are worth at least the $30.00 you paid for it.

Hello,
If it were mine I would consider making it into a table top model like the " Chalet'. You could remove the rest of the legs and buy a nice piece of oak moulding to trim around the bottom.

We have one of those too. I always thought it had the legs cut off. Is this really a salesman's sample? A chairside version? ;)

BTW, the grille on this one is probably incorrect. It appears to be a home made one.
