"The phonograph† is not of any commercial value."
Thomas Alva Edison - Comment to his assistant, Samuel Insull.

"No one needs a Victrola XX, a Perfected Graphophone Type G, or whatever you call those noisy things."

Well Pete was a smart dog---he liked phonographs or was he a friend of Nipper. One of my favorite episodes, was The Wild Man from Borneo---a classic.

That was the first time that I have seen this one.

The Wild Man from Borneo is also a favorite of mine.
A great depression era comment is made when Spanky tries making small talk with "Uncle George". Spanky asks "How things are down in Borneo" and George just replies with a frown and a head shake. Spanky retorts "Yeah it's bad everyplace."

Another episode entitled "Forgotten Babies" has a Credenza-like machine (looks like a prop to me) that one of the kids rides on the turn table.

In the early 1990s Cabin Fever Entertainment produced a high quality 21 volume VHS set of 80 episodes (out of 200+ that we re made by Hal Roach Studios). I bought the VHS set. CFE was in the process of producing a DVD set but went out of business. Hallmark bought the material however it has so far failed to release any meaningful collection of episodes on DVD.

"Good Old Days".

LeRoy Shields composed just about all the music used in the early Hal Roach shorts: Our Gang, Little Rascals, Laurel & Hardy.

About 15-20 years ago, Gert Janblom and the Beau Hunks produced an excellent CD anthology of LeRoy Shields' film music.

The Beau Hunks also did an excellent album of the music of Raymond Scott.

Did the song come out on 78? If so, what label.

Thanks,
