You old guys are killing me...
Perhaps (and this is just a guess) it's a warplane and they're
fighting the war against good music?

A sensible world 60 years ago was only such if you surrounded yourself with 'sensible' things,
nothing has changed.
Maybe ya'll missed Salvador Dali, Roger Dean, Pink Floyd, or that bizarre yellow submarine that could fly.

P.S. there's a propeller on the engine mounted to the wing.
I can't believe you made me look for it Harvey!!!

Yes, each generation seems most sensible unto itself. And it too has questioned what is sensible again and again. Natural to some an maddening for others.
Keep as cool as you can, and keep on thinking free!

"[first man]
I think; I think I am; therefore I am; I think

[establishment]
Of course you are, my bright little star,
I've miles, and miles of files
Pretty files of your forefathers' fruit and now to suit our great computer
You're magnetic ink.

[first man]
I'm more than that; I know I am; at least, I think I must be.

[inner man]
There you go, man, keep as cool as you can,
Face piles of trials with smiles.
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave
And keep on thinking free."

This was music... not 711 music (seven words repeated eleven times)... artistic, expressive, melodic and thought provoking... All of the things that talented artists bring out in people...

I guess I found the answer to my question - "Why Neutral Milk Hotel?" Answer: Why not?... all of the good names have already been thought of and used.... As far as the music, since I was not familiar with it, I listened to "In the aeroplane over the sea..." and was less than impressed by the boring, monotonous feeling that the song evoked... Just the opinion of an old guy who is out of touch... Give me the Funk Brothers and Motown, Fleetwood Mac, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, and Steely Dan any day... Along with a number of other old bands of the 1920s...

It's not a gramophone t-shirt, it's a band t-shirt. It depicts art which utilizes an image of a gramophone to create a postmodern abstract image. In this context, the presence of the image is likely merely to convey "music."

Some of you folks sound like some of the folks discussing Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase, when it was new. That was 1912.

Just goes to show ya...some things never change.

Good point... I never could understand that painting... or Guernica...
