Ediphone questions and help

Post by bruv »

I had a lady call and ask me if I was interested in 4 Ediphones her husband picked up in the late 50's/ early 50's. 3 are the gray type with a drawer underneath and 1 is a black type with no drawer. She says there are aroiund 40 records with about 25 that have never been used. I'm not too familiar with these machines and wondered if anyone had an interest in them, I could tie them up. She had no idea of value and neither did I. She almost inferred they would take very little as her husband was going to take them to the dump. If you have any info or interest, I would appreciate it.

The problem with Ediphones, and other dictation machines, is that they are a small niche market.

Since they are not compatible with entertainment cylinders, most collectors aren't interested.

Shaving machines, however, are of interest to those who want to experiment seriously with home recording.

I figured as much. She thought someone may be interested in them instead of her husband throwing them away. I told her I would ask people. Thanks for the reply.

I am in need of some Ediphone blanks for use at the Thomas Edison Depot Museum here. If you end up with this stuff, maybe we can make a deal.
