I think this Emerson is neat! I really like the coffin-style lid and the "negative edge" (or whatever it is called) turntable area. Does the other side of the lid lift up?

I'm not an "off brand" guy myself, but I have liked that machine since you first posted pics of it. Congrats!

Those pre-Abrams Emersons were really well built machines. Check for a builders tag on yours. Some cabinets of these art models were built by Pooley, Sheip & Vandegrift (makers of the horns) Jamestown Mantle, and Aimonie.

Great deal on a brand that was born from an early "pioneer" of recorded sound. ---Emerson worked for Columbia in the recording sector of the firm. I laughed when I saw the photos---I have a machine in the same shape----missing a door pull too.

The other noticeable thing with Emerson was the angled turntable edge with the irridescent material on it.

With the Fletcher reproducer rebuilt in combination with a Music Master horn , it should sound quite good. Fletchers seem to have a full rather melllow sound, in my experience.

What does the other side of the cabinet look like... the record storage area.
