Odd combination of machine and parts on ebay

Post by melvind »

Take a look at this scary mess. If someone needs a Junior horn this could be a good thing I guess. It makes me cringe though.

And what, pray tell, is that bulbous/cone-shaped apparatus to which the soundbox is attached?

That's actually a part of the correct Victor Junior red horn which is the rare one in my understanding.

What's got me all frightened is that tracking angle.

Ah, thanks, George. Education is a wunnerful thing. I've no experience with these types of Victor machines. Only outside horn versions I've owned are an R and a Victor I, III and V.

Even though it's a hodgepodge of parts, there seems to be a Victor Jr horn, an Exhibition reproducer, a Victor I cabinet and motor and the weirdest home made back bracket in existence.... So, if you are in need of those parts, it may be a good deal...

There were two very valuable parts. How often do you see a red Victor Jr. horn with decal in decent condition for sale? Also, the Victor I can be completed fairly easily. I think the auction was pretty much for the Victor Jr. horn.

Someone got a great buy. Even though this is a put together machine, the individual parts are worth much more than the selling price. The horn alone is worth more than the selling price.

I agree with Harvey and Ken. If all things are equal, can anyone speculate the difference in value between a Victor Junior with a black horn and a Victor Junior with the red horn? It's a significant difference. Jerry B.

A Victor Junior with the red horn was sold in the Yankee Trader about a month to two ago. The asking price was $3995 and sold quick. The red horn Juniors are extremely hard to find and the one sold on the Yankee Trader was near mint. A black horn Junior in the same condition would be around $1200 to $1500. I have never seen a loose horn available at a show, on Ebay, or here. As with any model, the overall condition is the main driving factor in the price. The original Victor Junior reproducers are also very hard to find.
