For Sale: early conical "recording" horn: $45

Post by Dustie89 »

Here is a early conical, often misleading called a "recording" horn. This does have condition issues, but would look good with a early machine. Striping can still be seen. $45 with free delivery to Union. In better shape would bring more. I don't think it would be worth to ship this horn. Just PM me if interested. Would prefer payment through PayPal, but can work with anyone.

Thanks
Dustin

Proper recording horns (at least professionally) tended to be much narrower: this looks much more like one of the larger horns commonly marketed in the late 1890s. It could, however, be used for amateur recording.

That said, $50 seems a very good price for this: it would look great on a suitcase Standard or a Columbia A...

Hey Bill

Exactly right. This horn is from the 1890's era. You see it mostly on Columbias from that era. People often refer to them as "recording horns" as a slang. I believe the slang even goes back to the period they were produced. The actual recording horns are much narrower and smaller. I have four so I thought I'd share lol. Is pretty cheap because of condition. Ones in better shape run more of course.

Thanks
Dustin
