Amberola 50 grille stuck
I just picked up an oak Amberola 50 and the grille will not tilt out of the case - could the case have shrunk? It will lift up but not clear the bottom lip any suggestions?

#1., How about a pic of the machine..? Its possible that the grille may not be original.. And may be incorrect or a reproduction..
If it is original, and it is just stuck.. Just keep working it gently. It should come out eventually..

No it's 100% original to the machine - I just wanted to replace the tattered original grille cloth, it just won't lift up high enough to clear the bottom lip ugh

Did you get it out yet?
As I said, If its original, just keep slowly working it. It will come our.
Take and post a pic of the jam so we can offer suggestions of it's stuck position to loosen it for you.

I think the grill is in upside down and was forced in place. It's going to be hard to get out. You have to reverse the process that was used to install the grill incorrectly.
Is there any clearance where you see a little space if you push the grill down towards the floor?
You have to come at it from the inside and with a wide blade screwdriver, insert it into the space and try levering the grill down (very carefully) while pushing the grill back out towards the front, always working from inside the cabinet. I start in one corner of the grill and work across.
If you pry from the front, you will damage the cabinet, so don't do that. Pry from inside.
Be patient and good luck.

Try putting it in a dry environment: near a water heater, furnace, central AC (still too early for that!), by a dehumidifier, etc. See if several days/weeks of that helps.
I once bought a Victrola XVI out of a basement. The record storage doors had swollen so much that when one was closed, the other overlapped it by about ⅛". Within 3-4 months of being upstairs in our house, the doors shrank back to original size.

Pull the motorboard and horn and install the grill cloth with the grill installed.
