this wouldn't be gilbert of sheffield, england would it? Common machines where I'm from but aparrently they're quite good!

Yes, and it's the second Gilbert phono I've seen on Craigslist in the space of a year. The other listing was in the San Francisco Bay area and was sold. I can't tell on this present listing if this one has the mother of pearl inlaid soundbox.
