The grille on my A100 Diamond Disc has faint circular outlines, about an inch in diameter, at each of the front 4 corners. I've noticed that on some other A100 grilles too. From the picture in Frow's The Edison Disc Phonograph and the Diamond Discs it looks like there was originally an applied decoration there, some sort of rosette. They must have been very poorly attached. A Google image search for A100s turned up very few that still has them.
Does anybody know what they were made of--wood, metal, some sort of composition--and whether there is any source for reproductions?

They were composition and poorly attached, as you suspect. Not aware of reproductions. Maybe you can find an existing one and make a mold off of it.

JerryVan - You can find a very close match here - just search under Rosettes-Circle. Great quality also!

Clay here's a pic of one of the rosettes on my mahogany A 100, if it can be of help.

If you're missing all four these are close but not exact. They have many more take a look.

I found a missing rosette for my Sonora on that website! It was exactly the one I was missing.
