Are these the same horns used on the GEM ? Seems like the end that goes to the reproducer is smaller.

Thanks George. Thats a great thread! Well, I found another missing part on the B. The speed regulator screw. If anyone knows of a source for those, let me know. I checked Ebay and couldnt find one.
Tomorrow, I will do a disassembly, clean, polish, and lubrication. Should I mess with the mainspring in this thing? It winds smooth. Looks like some kind of 2-piece spring barrel ?

There are two small mainsprings in that barrel. As long as it's winding smoothly and expending itself pretty evenly, I'd leave it alone.

I got my speed regulator screw from George Vollema, I'd give him a call first.

If I were you I'd clean and grease the spring while you have it apart, the original grease does not get better with time like wine. It's one of the easiest machines to do springs on as they are so small, you should have no problem. Take lots of photos as you disassemble, it helps when you are sitting there wondering how gears are arranged, where a screw goes, or which direction the springs are wound, etc.

With that said, I love my eagle and actually play it quite a bit! Enjoy!

If you are looking at buying the tag and cover from Mark Gaiser (Croakinfrog), ask him if he has the screw. He stocks almost anything you could want.

I got her all cleaned up and , it looks pretty good if I do say so myself! I completely disassembled it and soaked everything in clock cleaning solution for an hour. After scrubbing everything with 0000 steel wool, I dried everything off and polished the best I could by hand with Blue Magic metal polish. Re-soaked everything, rinsed and began reassembled. I did remove both mainsprings, cleaned, and repacked them. They were easy to do. It is running very well and plays evenly all the way through a cylinder. Shes a bit on the noisy side. From watching videos on Youtube, seems like they all are. The majority of the noise is coming from the small gear on the governor. I tried some STP but that didnt help. It is what it is. So, here are some pictures of what I started with and how it came out. I have the missing tag and regulator screw coming from croakinfrog. Im going to have to wait on the belt cover.
I also have 3 new governor springs coming.

You are right, they are all a bit noisy. But hey, they were cheap back then, and are approaching 120 years old...what more could we expect?
