Great job restoring, so far. Once you get the missing parts, you will have a very nice machine. It looks and plays good.

I actually found the source of most of the noise. It's a small coarse tooth brass gear on the end of the same shaft as the large gear that meshes with the governor . The gear is out of round and worn on half of it . I think I should be able to remove that gear and turn it around. Don't know if it will help or not but I'm going to try it.

Is this normal ? The reproducer sits at an angle to the cylinder. I dont see any way of adjusting it. Thanks

By the way, I was able to remove the small brass gear and flip it around to the good side using a small, clock hand puller. Took the rumble away! Very easy to do.

I really enjoyed the video. What is the title of the song played? I love Navy, Sailor, and Nautical records. I gotta find this tune on cylinder or disk. Where did you get that clock hand puller from? That looks like a great tool to have.

Harvey, the song is Soldiers Hornpipe Medley. The clock hand puller came with a lot of watchmakers tools that I bought years ago. I work on pocket watches. It has been a handy little tool more than once. Im sure you could find one cheap on Ebay. A small clock gear puller would probably work even better but, I dont have one of those.

Finally found all of the missing parts and finished her up. Running really well and I am happy with it. I took the liberty of soldering the small end of the horn and painting it gold to be more like an original Columbia horn until I can find and original. Thanks for the help here with advise and some of the missing parts. It was a fun project!
