Paul Baker in N.Y. is a leading authority on the restoration of these machines. He may be at Union this year. There are few, if any electric phonographs that out perform the Edison C2. The Columbia Kolster Viva Tonal machines come close

I have Chuck Azzalini's C2 and it is the most awesome phono radio I've ever heard. 78s sound great and DD's, especially the electrics sound fantastic with much more bass than the acoustic Edisons. Getting back to your original post, is your German tank from WWI or WWII?

They are really nice machines when they are working like they should and I'm really happy with the one I have. Chuck went through the pickup on the one I have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj1gfTlAM28 They are kind of their own animal it seems and that Peerless speaker is really nice sounding, but kind of an oddball. A friend of mine down by Kansas City went through the chassis on it and he's gone through a couple of others. He's not exactly thrilled with them, but even he is impressed with how nice they sound. I don't think the chassis was put together with the service man in mind....

Markie,
That's one beautiful machine.
I have a collector friend who has one.
His sounds absolutely great when playing later diamond discs!
Best of luck with yours.
