WANTED: Aretino / Columbia Needle Bar & Mica Screw

Post by HisMastersVoice »

While rebuilding the Reproducer on my Aretino this evening and the mica screw broke off in the needle bar during disassembly. Before I call around, if anyone has one in their parts I'd be most gracious.

Is this a rear mount Aretino? If so, a Columbia will work. If the needlebar is still intact, you can drill out the screw. It is made of brass. Then you can tap the threads with an 0-80 tap. It's better than replacing the whole needlebar.

Yes it is. I should have said Aretino / Columbia. I don't personally have the tools to drill it out, but a friend does and that may also be an option. I'm so bummed, the rest of the rebuild went perfectly!

I forgot to mention that the Aretino uses a larger analyzing reproducer. Therefore the needle bar is longer. To find this needle bar loose is very difficult. That's why it is important to repair this one.

Thanks for the info Harvey. I'm hoping it's repairable. I'd also buy the whole reproducer if someone had one laying around, just to have a spare or in case the repair goes awry.

It shouldn't be too hard. You need a steady hand,an 0-80 tap and matching drill. Below is a link for Micro Mark. They specialize in hard to find tools. If you have a good buddy who can drill and tap. The typical Columbia Analyzing reproducer for the machine is larger than the Standard, BH, BI, etc. The Aretino is a tough one to find. If any one sees an Aretino with the regular size Analyzing reproducer, that's wrong. Also, don't forget the little washers.
