Brunswick Cabinet (sort of) with Chinese Artwork

This just came into the shop, the top section of a Brunswick phonograph with Chinese art painted on the top, front, and both sides of the lid - it is attached to a wooden box. It was probably a really nice cabinet at one time. I believe it is signed, anybody recognize the signature or artwork?

I imagine the rest of it's chopped up for firewood or a liquor cabinet! Anyways, If you attempt to find the elusive cabinet, good luck, and the best of your journey.

I don't think there is much chance I will find the rest of the cabinet. A fellow brought this and another Brunswick into the shop and just wanted to get rid of them. I can use the motors for parts and the 3 way Ultona reproducer that came with this painted cabinet has gold trim. I've never seen gold on an Ultona reproducer before. Even the lateral/Pathé needle bar and Edison stylus bar are gold (plated). Too bad the stylus is broken off on the Edison part.

The other Brunswick had a good 3 way Ultona reproducer, nickel plated.

That's the Japanese (not Chinese) model of Brunswick. I had one for about 35 years, and just sold it at the March 2017 Donley auction in Union. I suppose those Japanese characters on the lid could be a signature or artist's name, but I've heard this model used decals, not painting. I always loved the gold plated parts.

You might find a Japanese or Chinese style end table to use as a stand

The figures you posted are the "Chop" which is the signature of the artist the other is the "Chop" of the person that the painting was done for. In many cases when a product like this was decorated the chop is for the agent that hired the artist to do it.

Here are some pictures of the gold trim on the 3 way Ultona reproducer. This is the first I've seen with the gold, and that includes several Brunswick phonographs that had gold hardware with nickel plated Ultona reproducers.
