Gone: Free COPY - Edison DD Charleston

Post by donniej »

DD 51542 - Charleston. Golden Gate Orchestra. This is an experimental resin, single sided copy. Unfortunately the spindle hole is .005"'- .010" off center which caused the stylus to chew up the first couple of grooves. Surface noise may be a little higher than the original (it may just be me) but it generally plays very well. Despite the first few grooves, it still seems like too nice a copy to throw out so the first person to reply "taken", or the disambiguous verbage or your choosing, gets it for free.
USA only, please.
If you're handy with a drill press, you may even be able to epoxy and redrill the spindle hole.
I have a few of these copies with various "issues" and will be randomly giving them away. The new mold will hopefully yield better results...

It sounds like you have multiple available perhaps, so I've sent you a PM requesting one if any remain available.

I received my test copy and it works great. Thanks to Don for his efforts on this. I think this will be a great way to get some good titles for our Diamond Disc machines. Especially those 1925-1929 titles.

I have one as well, it plays just fine on my A-275 with no issues, even with the slight off-center hole. My machine didn't chew it up at all and as of last night it has been played 5 times already. It does have slight noise, but since I'll probably never have an original, this is fine for now!

My visitors last night were impressed with it!

Thanks Don! I received my copy in the mail today. I only had a chance to play it once, but was very pleased! Even with the slightly off center hole, it still played through with no issues (just a little skip at the beginning). It sounded great! Loud and clear. I only played it with my standard reproducer--I am going to try my dance and edisonic's later (when the family isn't sleeping!). Whatever material you are using seems to work just fine! Have you tried multiple repeated plays to notice if there is any wear on the records?

If you don't have a copy of Charleston, I would recommend getting one of these when they come up for sale!! Great work Don, and thanks again!
