A few more pictures would be very helpful. At least a picture with the doors closed would be nice.

Sure does look a lot like an XX to me. Were the early ones tagged as VTLAs? I'd say maybe a Canadian variant but wouldn't that be tagged as a Berliner?

The Victrola XXs that I've seen were marked "VTLA". Jerry B.

The VV-XX is described on the Victor-Victrola page under "VTLA, etc." -- http://www.victor-victrola.com/XVI.htm

There was an interesting discussion about the XX on this forum, awhile back -- http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... 14&t=26990

I don't know if the asking price is optimistic or not. The one discussed in the (above linked) post apparently went for $8,800.00 and was fitted with a few inauthentic parts.

I'm wondering if this originally had the gold gilding on the carvings. They look to be original, but can't exactly tell from the photos.

there were some VTLA'S that did not have the gold on them...I'm sure this is original without the gold.

Beautiful machine, I have owned two XX's over the years both were tagged VTLA, one with gold and one without. Both had the original finish so the gold gilding must have been an option when purchased. Hope your XX finds a good home.
