Spotted a 1916 Late Series 1 Amberola 30 watching TV today.

I was watching a local PBS channel today and they were running an episode of the "Murdoch Mysteries" series which stars all the same people and storylines from the previous popular "Artful Detective" TV show. I believe that it is all filmed in Toronto, Canada....and the show reflects that the Victorian period show is also in Toronto, Canada.

Well, In this "Murdoch Mysteries" Episode titled "Murdoch in Toyland" that originally aired on 5/08/2012, There is a murderer leaving "Edison Type" talking dolls at the scene of every murder scene. At each murder, A doll is found with a recorded cylinder message taunting Murdoch to catch him, and each recorded cylinder message leads Murdoch closer to who the killer is. Great episode!!!! Anyway in a few scenes, in the Police station, and a Psychiatrist's office, You can see that they are using a 1916 Late Series 1 Amberola 30 with the top lid cover and hinges removed (probably to further disguise the machine) and the machine is fitted with a Diamond "B" Reproducer instead of the correct Diamond "C" Reproducer. They also neatly put some black tape over Edison's name on the dataplate!

One problem, The series is set and takes place in 1895 to 1899. About 16 years too early for An Amberola 30 to appear. Gotcha!

I was being lazy yesterday and watched a few movies on TCM.. In "The Vanishing Virginian", Kathryn Grayson sings along to a nice looking Victor VI. The phono is shown several times--especially at beginning and end of the clip.
