I discovered that at some point a previous owner of my A250 had retro fitted a mute device, but it was later removed. I have been searching Ebay, this forum and the Union Phonograph show, but I have been unable to acquire the necessary parts. I recently found mute device parts for sale on Ebay for a A150. I made the mistake that they were identical, but trying to install the parts proved other wise. Now I'm back on the hunt for the A250 mute device. If you have one to sell or you would like to trade for the A150 mute parts, please send me a PM.

How are the parts different between the A-150 and A-250 versions?

Re: Wanted: Edison A250 Muting Device
I haven't noticed any difference in the later most common muting devices (horizontal slide type?" other than the 3 sizes of the mute ball itself.(see picture) My earliest A-250 didn't come with a mute ball, but my later A-250 came with the "corner pull" style. There is an earlier version also. You can read more about the earlier versions here. http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... l&start=30 As far as the A-150 I only have a B-150, which has the medium size ball and horizontal slide. Maybe someone with more information can chime in with additional and or correct me if I am wrong here. I hope this helps.

Re: Wanted: Edison A250 Muting Device
The difference between the A250 and the A150 is in two critical parts. The cast arm is shorter and the slide casting is longer. I can't make the slide casting fit without cutting part of the tube off. There is nothing I can do with the cast arm. The mute ball won't reach far enough into the horn in order to function as a mute.
Correction: The cast arm is the same on both models. I have a friend who owns a A250 and his is the same as the one I bought. The slide is too long, but I think I can make it work. I think the ball doesn't reach far enough, because the end of the cable has broken off. I can work with that as well.

I've been looking for a mute ball myself to no avail. I even bought another DD player hoping to use its mute ball, but managed to get one with the tiny ball instead of the big one. I have a C-150 which has one of the larger style balls (I only knew of 2, not 3). Luckily all of the other parts are there, I just need the ball.
