Hey Billybob, the mold may be fixed, we'll see in the morning. You'll get first dibs on the copy.

Ps. I also just made (single sided) copies of (78's) Brunswick "Original Charleston" by Isham Jones and the Victor Paul Whiteman Charleston (a mint copy!!!).

The Haydn set is fantastically rare, for it was issued only in September or October of 1929. There is some question whether any copies were shipped here in the 'States before the liquidation, for most extant issues can be traced to the Antipodes. It is a corking good performance, though.

About a couple of years ago, my friend, who deals in records as a hobby, called me and said he just found two 12" Edison needle cuts of the Haydn Quartet. He wanted $200. Like a dolt, I said I've been buying too many records and didn't even go see them. Had I gone, I would have bought them! They sold at the silent auction at the APS show for about $575. I never thought I'd see a copy of those records again, but they did show up on Ebay a while ago and were offered in separate auctions:

Also, we have to realize that Don is doing this as a hobby and is not the Edison Phonograph Company. I doubt if he has a factory in West Orange with hundreds of workers. If we all give Don ideas of what we want copied, it would quickly overwhelm his ability to crank them out. One problem I see is no one selected You'll Do It Someday by the Yale Collegians as a record they would buy. I just bought this DD and I can assure it is a hot fox trot. This was the band that backed up Rudy Vallee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc3dxt2yu6g

My question to Don is how many copies can you make from a single mold?

Hi,
As I said I will be a buyer of what you make so count me in. Let me know when a pressing is available and what the cost is. I think I have two 52000 series DDs I will pull them after eating as it is about 8 am. I will check their condition etc. they will be available but I am not pushing you to copy them.

Hi again,
These are the recordings I own I will look for more but do not think I have others.

52038 R I'm Waltzing In Love With You, L A Little Girl - A Little Boy - A Little Moon by the Jack Stillman's Orch.

53189 L Puna Waltz, R Honolulu Moon by Waikiki Orch.

The first has some tan looking groves for the first ¼ inch on the R side and the second side L has two scratches near the center their lengths in the music are ½ and ⅛ inch the shorter one is audible there are also rubs over the surface that are not audible but may or may not cause a release problem.

Again I am not pushing to have them duplicated but they are available.

I'm guessing here, but I bet he means the three Ellen Coleman sides from later 1923. 51200 - 'Cruel Back-Bitin' Blues - A heart-aching Chant" backed with "You Got Ev'rything A Sweet Mama Needs (but me)" and 51242 "She Walked Right Up and Took My Man Away" backed by Anna Chandler "He'll Always Be One Of Those Guys". Both red star issues that don't show up often. I have both discs and I'd be glad to lend them to you when I can find which machine they're in!
