Allen, neither of those discs are hard to find, I wouldn't worry about accidentally messing one up.
Marc, I don't know how many copies can come from a mold. It should be dozens, but there's always a chance of tearing the silicone. If the tear is in the groove area then the mold is trashed.
I also agree about "You'll do it someday".

You are right... just my opinion, as I obviously don't speak for everyone... When I said, not many would be good candidates, the important part was - "that you can obtain".billybob62 wrote:Hi Curt,

With all due respect to you, how can you speak for everyone?
I don't think you meant to do that and it was just your personal opinion, right?![]()
John
Personally, I would like a copy of Luke Jordan's 78 - Cocaine Blues, recorded in Charlotte, NC in 1927 but where can you find one or someone to loan one?

Ok folks, the first batch of "Yes she do" has been posted and I plan to have Rolfe's "I cant give you anything but love" ready next week.
There are also a few new Charleston 78's about to become ready, including a MINT Victor / Paul Whiteman.

I have a diamond disc pressing disc from the factory I wonder if records can be made from it.

That record announcement says "Tenor, B. A. Rolfe". Did B. A. Rolfe sing? I've never heard that he was a singer, just a band leader and a virtuoso trumpet player. I looked up Roses Remind Me of You and it is DD 51772 released in 8/26. I also own the record. It is a fox trot with a brief tenor vocal toward the end. I guess it could be Rolfe himself singing, but Rust and Wile don't even mention a vocalist. The record though is one of Rolfe's mediocre ones.

Yes, I could make discs from it. Getting the spindle hole centered would be the hardest part.Stephen_Madara wrote:I have a diamond disc pressing disc from the factory I wonder if records can be made from it.

Don, is 52430 with B. A. Rolfe's Concert Orchestra playing I Can't Give You Anything, But Love going to be a two sided record? If so, is it going to be King For a Day or something else. That leads me to another question. When you make a two-sided DD, can you choose the sides, or do you have to keep whatever is on the flip side? Marc.

Re: WANTED TO BUY: The first two sided reproduction Edison
Marc,
I was about to message you about this... the materials finally arrived and I'm going to start building the mold for 52430 tomorrow. It will be a two sided copy, identical to the original.
Is it possible to make one disc with sides from two different discs? Definitely. BUT, DD's vary in width and this would make a complicated process (building the mold) even worse. Not to mention getting the spindle holes lined up, which is a major PITA in itself.
