Question about General Industries Phonograph

Post by 78monarch »

Today I received a Phonograph. I wonder which model it is, and which year. The motor is a General Industries Co. Junior.
I am grateful for all the answers.

The motor may be a General Industries but you have a "Pal" phonograph and it's a model "Gem." I'd suggest you use the search feature of the Forum and search for "Pal", "Pal portable", "Pal Junior", etc. Good luck in your search.

Pal was produced by Plaza Music Corporation. This was an entry-level portable in $10.00. Appears to date from about 1929. General Industries was the former Garford telephone plant in Elyria, OH, which was taken over by Otto Heinemann's General Phonograph Corporation in 1915. The firm changed its name to GI in 1927 after Heinemann sold his record business to Columbia
