New to me, a Victor 10-50

I know these are boat anchors to some but I couldn't resist this one. The search goes on for the pot metal parts. I am hoping StLBill will be making them. The cabinet is absolutely stunning. The mechanism is partially taken apart and in a box but it looks like everything is there. I am glad the the albums were inside. The projects never end.

It is not a boat anchor to me. The cabinet is really beautiful. I would be very happy to own such a magnificent 10-50. Best of luck with the restoration.

What was the model differentiation, if any, from the models with the glass in the door as opposed to the solid door?

The later models of the 10-50 and 10-51 had the glass door. There is no model differentiation.

I always thought it was an after market conversion that had the glass in the doors.

It was, Victor didn't do these from Camden, an independent company (name escapes me) converted them for public use, restaurants, hotels, etc. Some were coin op (like Gene's pictured above), but I've seen others that were not.

Ken, are those albums or box type carriers? I've never seen a 10-50 with regular albums, but there were a couple different variations of the box-type record holders. The first type had the more matte paper covering and the later ones had more smooth and shiny covering like the later ortho style albums.

Congrats, 10-50s are a lot of fun and sound and work great once properly gone through!

Well, according to factory records and the collector database of machines on http://www.victor-victrola.com, the later 10-50s/10-51s rolled out of Camden with glass doors.

I believe the company that did these modifications was "Badger", I don't have access to my files right now, but I still don't believe Victor did the glass doors at the factory.
