Fitted cabinet for Victrola VV-IX
I found a cabinet yesterday that's a perfect fit for my old Victrola VV-IX. The legs fit into a matching cradle on the top of the cabinet. While it isn't a showpiece, neither is my Victrola, so it works very well with it. I was wondering if anyone knew the manufacturer, I'm attaching a few pictures. There are no markings on it at all. I have no idea if Pooley made it or some other 3rd party manufacturer. I believe Victor never made any of these themselves. I can only hope to find a key for it someday, because of course that's missing. But the beat up mahogany finish in not a horrible match for my beat up mahogany Victrola, so I'm happy. Any info appreciated. Thank you---

Re: Fitted cabinet for Victrola VV-IX
Thats a fine cabinet and one of the better matching ones for a IX.
I am away from my library of phono books at the moment but if memory serves me correct that very cabinet is shown in one of the Fabrizio & Paul Books. I believe it is pictured in the Gadgets, Gizmos and Contraptions Book. I will confirm exactly which book when I get back to home unless someone beats me to it (George, I know you are out there!).
Each of the Fabrizio & Paul books is a wealth of information and contains tons of information. You should buy the whole set it will provide a resource LIKE NO OTHER. High quality pictures of the more common to the rare and exotic machines and accessories! Invaluable in my opinion. John

The cabinet and VV IX is worth cleaning up and restoration. It looks like it will clean up nice with GOJO or some other kind of cleaner. This is a very nice set up.

I agree with Harvey. A good cleaning with GoJo would do wonders for each piece. I've always enjoyed that combination of base cabinet and Victrola. Very attractive and stylish.

OK. I arrived home and you can find the cabinet on page 219 of F&P "Antique Phonograph Accessories and Contraptions" book. They indicate there is no maker marked in the example pictured. John

Thank you! The book costs more than I paid for the cabinet, so I may not ever see the picture you mentioned but it's good to know it's there!Ripduf1 wrote:OK.
