Anything to know about removing edison with auto size stop.

Post by larryh »

Hello All,

While I have taken out several Edison motors the past year, I have never taken out one with the size stops for 10 and 12 inch records. Is there something I should know before trying to remove that motor?

As a side note, this reproducer for a change seems to have a very good original diaphragm and I have not yet changed the gasket in it. I am glad to have one to compare to that seems to withstand more places clearly than my previous originals.

thanks
Larry

Larry:
There shouldn't be any difference with the units with buttons. There is no direct link between the wood frame and button unit and the motorboard. The button mechanism has two spring-loaded lower protrusions that when pressed come in contact with a stop-bracket on the horn.
The wood frame should just be unscrewed and lifted out before removing the motor mechanism.
The horn lifting handle, etc., should of course be undone before the motorboard is lifted out. I'm sure you know that!

Thanks Bob, its been some time since I last removed a Edison Motor and I have never taken one out like this so that will make it less worrisome.
