Hi,
I was curious if any of you have been noticing the prices of Berliner phonographs in the last couple of years. This American machine is from 1897-1898 era with black funnel horn. I haven't kept up with prices lately and was wondering if others have noticed eBay prices or individual sales in the hobby.
Thanx,
ColoradoPhonograf

Re: Berliner Phonographs
I found two Beliner phonographs at the same auction about 6 months ago. I bid on both of them but had to stop as my pockets were just not deep enough. I was that next highest bidder on both of them. They went for $3,500 each if I remember correctly. Wish I could have come away with one.

I went back through my records and found the two Berliners that I found at auction. Both have the original finish and work/play fine. Both phonographs included the tables they are pictured on. And both sold for $3,300. Here they are:

As a berliner collector I have never seen one go down.I have seen most that have been played around with and they still sell well.If it is mint and un-touched.....I think you have gold.
Here is one I found on Craigslist last year 1897 for 1200.It was up-graded to a "new century" reporducer in 1901.I changed it back to a "clark-Johnson" when I got it.

Re: Berliner Phonographs
Nice Berliner Grammophone78.
You should consider posting one of yours as a featured phono. I' sure it would generate alot of interest.
Below is a photo of my Berliner. Several more pictures are posted on my website if you are interested.

My favorite is still the 1898 model that we all know and love.Well the collectors that like disc machines anyway. However, than it makes you go out and spend more on a early mache dog.
