Hello Django.
It was long and difficult to choose a good material. At the beggening i have choose Polyoxymethylene, but not enought strong for me. I don't remember the exact name of the material but, i have choose a material 10 more strong in comparison of the Polyoxymethylene. And self-oiled, and wear resistant.

Delrin? I've used Delrin to make governor gears for other machines. I'm told the results have been good. (I did this for others. Haven't made or used any for myself.)

Are you personally making these, or do you have a source? Not trying to be nosy. It's just as you say, not many people know how to do this. It takes some skill, but it's not so difficult as it is expensive for the equipment. Best of luck to you. Glad you're making these available.
Hello Jerry!
If i sell it i would like a perfect result! So! It is a little society in my country who make this for me. Yes, it is type of delrin, but more strong and self-oiled. I must foudn the exact term. Not a lot of people can do this, it is why i make it! ;)
The test in progress!
Thank you for your interest! :)

"Hello Doug,
Thanks for your information! :) Phono-Phan was not very happy to see a little french make Berliner gear, no?"

I have no idea how you could interpret that I am not very happy about a French made gear. I worked with Ron Sitko and had several made at a shop I found before the Union Show in June. Ron's normal supplier stopped making them and I needed one. So I researched them, found a machine shop to make them, and sold most of them to Ron at cost. They work great!! Everyone that knows me can attest to the fact that I support this hobby without any drama.

I have heard that Ron make good gear, but he has only a phone number. I would like to simplify the processus to have this type of gear. Because for no-USA people it is difficult. And as Doug says. If he stop the production, nobody make this. So, it is not stupid that, a young collector make them. 8-)

And other thing..Darren J. Wallace make this. He is in Canada. The price is 300$ the gear. And now the gear was out of stock. So, nobody sell this type of gear now. ;)

Here is the link to my original posts regarding my gear project. I also had to make the solid copper rivets. http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... hilit=gear

Very interesting.
On my Berliner motor, there are no rivets. The last owner had remplaced them by little screws... :?

Delrin might work, polyurethane might work but probably wouldn't like being oiled. Nylon would probably be my first pick.
Making a mold with a high grade silicone and then casting them out of low temp melt metals may also work.

Hello Donniej,

I know a person who have make it in melt metal, it was to noisy. Delrin, and Nylon are the most good idea.
So we are OK. :) I wait the first test.
