From my personal collection. This machine is (I'm 99% certain) completely original including the arms. Nice original 7 inch cast iron turntable, nice original finger jointed cabinet, horn is nice original. Motor is strong and smooth running.
Plays awesome...you can see and hear this machine playing in one of my videos on my YouTube channel here:

Shouldn't it say OXFORD on the arms? It looks like a Columbia

This machine was made by Columbia as you know. I've only seen 'Columbia' arms on these but then I've seen very few of these over the years. What I do know is that this machine remained as it is here since the original family owned it and according to the surviving family members.

Only questioning it because the Sears HARVARD machines I've seen had Harvard cast in the arms.FellowCollector wrote:This machine was made by Columbia as you know. It does look nice. Maybe someone else has the info.

I have always wondered about these - how does one determine that it is indeed an Oxford machine ??

In my experience it should have generic arms and reproducer, but as we all know, nothing is cast in stone. I've seen "Harvard" arms but not "Oxford", which is not to say they don't exist.
I don't think the Columbia branded parts are correct here. JMO.

To my experience, Oxford machines do not have Columbia script reproducers, nor Columbia script tone arms.briankeith wrote:I have always wondered about these - how does one determine that it is indeed an Oxford machine ??

That said... is there a paper tag inside or underneath?JerryVan wrote:To my experience, Oxford machines do not have Columbia script reproducers, nor Columbia script tone arms.briankeith wrote:I have always wondered about these - how does one determine that it is indeed an Oxford machine ??
In spite of the controversy... these Columbia clients are great workhorses for spinning platters, and they sound great with a rebuilt and properly adjusted reproducer. I've owned quite a few in the past and was very pleased with all.

Re: FOR SALE: NICE Orig. Oxford 7" Front Mount Phonograph -
I presumed that this would generate some criticism which is welcome. I purchased this many years ago exactly as it is seen here (and in the video) from the original owner's family and have no reason to doubt its provenance as stated by the family. I simply thought there might be someone here on the Forum who may be interested in it exactly as I found it. Its components are completely original (99% confident) and as found and I'm happy to stand by that. If anyone is interested feel free to send a PM.
