My Recent Find - Another Columbia B With Pizazz!

Post by Jerry B. »

My recent find is another Columbia Eagle. It's not one with a lot of bling but it has tons of pizazz. One photo shows how the base was decorated. Also, it came with a boxed recorder. The lid and base attracted me to this machine. They are built from wood and thick pressed paper and the decoration and promotion of the dealer's name is wild.

The "find" is from the Karp collection in Seattle.

You are absolutely correct. It came from the Karp collection. It did not come from a garage sale, antique shop, flea market, antique sale, or a phono sale like Union. I was researching another machine in George & Tim's "A World of Antique Phonographs" and noticed the Eagle with credit given to Larry & Myra Karp. I was delighted to have the opportunity to make the purchase so to me it was clearly an exciting "find."

I'm confused.

Finds are no longer finds if they are found in another collection? Who moved the cheese? Who authorized the move?

Nice find, Jerry! :D

I think that is really a historic machine. Most of the time lids are hidden away, that one is a show piece.

Jerry,

Great "Eagle," Jerry! :) (And as we discussed on the phone a few days ago - I hope that "Right of First Refusal" has already been granted!)

Is there a serial number on the belt cover?

George P.
