Now up for sale is a set of parts I REALLY wished I had a need for. I'm a guy who NEVER buys radio cabinets. But after seeing the tonearm and such up top, I had to. The case is a 1930 Grigsby-Grunow Majestic Model 233 radio/phono combo, that someone had (long, long ago) removed the entire radio (shame), and, unfortunately, the platter as well.
I had originally planned to restore it, but, my....ambitions? I suppose, have changed, and I have shifted to Phonographs over radios. The pictures lie, the finish on the tone arm and base (especially) are FANTASTIC. It's obvious they weren't used long enough to wear away at the finish. The needle cup, speed adjustment gear, and Off/On lever look very good as well, but a little polish wouldn't do any harm. I quite like the patina, really. Can't fake that.
Anyway, here is what I am (sadly) parting with. A Near Mint Electric (magnetic?) pickup and tone arm with the base bracket. If I can successfully remove them without damaging them, I'll also include the Gear, Off/On lever, and Needle cup. No guarantees, but I will try. The pickup shows resistance, can;t remember what it was when I checked it, but IT IS NOT OPEN.
And, (perhaps of more interest) is the electric motor. It's a Grigsby-Grunow one, so I don't know if it is a "standard AC motor" or a more specialized one. It is not licked up, but a good lubrication/whatever these may need is recommended. It still has it's original plug, which plugs into a "converter box" on the side of the cabinet. The power is supplied via that box. The plug will not fit into a socket, because the plugs were originally shaped so they would not. However, a new plug end should fix that, so you can use it with any wall socket. Regardless, the "converter box" will be included with the motor.
I would like to get $30 for the Pickup, tone arm, support piece, etc. Plus Shipping.

As a package deal, you can have it all for $45+ actual Parcel Post shipping. (Shouldn't be much at all.)
If you have ANY questions, comments, etc. feel free to ask me. Best post a reply here, then either PM me, or (best) e-mail me at [email protected] .
I had an issue with the past thing I posted, where a member sent me a PM, but I did not see any text from him. Due to that, someone else snatched up a part he was looking for, because I saw no instructions/text from him. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR PM's before you send them.
Thanks!
