Sorry for the confusion. It is not an L-door. It's a conventional model XVI. Here's a couple of photos. I could use a photo of the bottom 5 or 6 inches of the back legs. I don't think this D serial number model had any carving on the back legs, mine are well worn at the bottom.

Odd. In the Victor data book it states that the L door model was replaced along with the beginning of suffix E. Could you take a picture of your data plate?

Very nice machine with a rare finish. I'm not sure if it is Fumed, Weathered, or Antique Oak. I sent you an email with the crank and escutcheon for your machine. You Victrola XVI is the one just after the L-Door model from 1912-13.

I was wondering the same. Very unusual, and interesting!Phonofreak wrote:Very nice machine with a rare finish. I'm not sure if it is Fumed, Weathered, or Antique Oak. Thank you. It is the Flemish Oak finish. I've looked for something with this finish for a while. Needs work around the bottom, has some veneer that is loose and the two pieces of moulding that runs between the front and rear legs is rough.

It is indeed Flemish oak. No question about it.
