O/T Hi Everyone

Greetings to everyone here on the talking machine forum. I am sorry, that I have not been on here in quite sometime. It's just that I have not really had too much to contribute to this board. I have been posting some more video's on YouTube, I am now up to 41. Some videos get more views then others. My video on my Berliner record, has received 150 views, which really surprised me. The last contact I had with anyone one on here, was last month. When a fellow board member saw my post for one of my Zone-o-phone records. He was willing to trade five 7 inch victor records, for my one Zone-o-phone record. So I did. Not really a big fan of xylophone records anyways. I did recently pick up a two more 78's with unusual labels. Both I think are in French. I have not played them yet, but I will. Plus I need to buy more needles for my Victrola. I have also been picking up vinyl records as well. Plus I bought a pair of JBL speakers, which gave me an excuse to reconnect my stereo system. Yes, I still have a turntable, well to actually. One is here in my office, the other is connected to my stereo system. Complete with tuner/amplifier CD player and cassette deck. Yea, I know still stuck on late 20th century technology. Then again, I LP's were still in production while growing up in the late 70's and early 80's.


The other reason, why I have not posted on here, as I had not seen much traffic? Also, the times I come on here, may have something to do with that? Again, I haven't really left, I just haven't had anything to add to the discussions, or new threads to post. I will try and make an effort to contribute more, and add my comments, to other members post's.

I will work on posting images of those two 78's.

Good to know you're still around Paul. I was wondering the other day why we hadn't heard from you lately.
Youtubes a fun way to share your music I think. Occasionally you'll get some clown leave a strange comment, but most of the time, the people who watch and comment really appreciate your efforts & your sharing some great music that often cant be found anywhere else.
I've always found it helpful to include the song title & artist in the main title of each video, and in the "tags" too, so your videos come up if someone searches either. I also like to add different words into the tags sometimes (like orthophonic, cylinder, 78rpm, witches hat etc) just so the videos come up in different places & searches.
The number of views you get can be a funny thing though. I've got over 1150 subscribers, but on average, any video I upload will only get between 30-50 views in the first week or so.
Other videos can be a real shock. One I had uploaded for a year, & it had about 1000 views, but a year later, it's now got over 283,000 views- thanks to a video game!
The most recent one of mine to increase in views dramatically is The Marines Hymn by Kate Smith.
It had a couple hundred views a couple months ago, but from what I can work out, it's been added to some military site, and it's already up to 96,700 views.
You cant really tell which ones will be popular (or at least I cant), but all of a sudden you'll upload something & it just sky rockets.
Patriotic songs seem to do well, as do 50s rock & roll songs, and popular tear jerkers like Oh my papa.
Actually, Im a bit sorry I uploaded Oh My Papa sometimes.lol. It's a great song and all, but some of the comments left are heart breaking to read.
