Victor 6 with Paper Machet Horn
I just had this paper machet horn restored a bit. It does have the Japanese decal underneath as well as the Victor Logo. I think the flowers and birds make it a bit more unusual. I have seen many of these as cylinder machine horns, but I have not seen many with birds/flowers made for a Victor machine. I'd love to see more if anyone has one. Thanks, Stan Stanford (Portland)

I guess that if someone asks how to improve on perfection, you could just show pictures of these machines. Beautiful.

Fabulous horn! I wonder if Victor offered the special decoration. Anyone have a theory? Jerry

Not that I have found to date in any Victor catalogs. However, I have seen one other with the Chinese red interior (with the two aforementioned decals). Also, what appears to be the same used on two 1906 Victor catalog covers.Jerry B. wrote:Fabulous horn! I wonder if Victor offered the special decoration. Anyone have a theory? Jerry
Since you have been a collector for 40+ years...what are your thoughts..?.

I can only speculate but believe that Victor's policy was to please their customer's individual requests. I'm pleased that fine examples like this horn survived. Jerry B.Since you have been a collector for 40+ years...what are your thoughts..?.

Re: Victor 6 with Paper Machet Horn
Here is mine with paintings inside. There was a thread a while back about the paper mache horns. Here is the link: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... hilit=kobe Mine doesn't have the Victor Logo but does have the makers imprint. I am surprised that any of these horns, painted or not, survived so long.
Stan,
Who did your restoration? As you can see, mine could use it. See you in June

Ken,
I really like your horn. Is it for a Victor? I have a similar one for a cylinder machine. I have attached pictures of 2 cylinder machine paper horns. A local wood worker, Pagenwood, did the restoration on the Victor horn. He had never done paper machet before. Much of the rim was showing and some of the flower parts were gone. He was able to color it in nicely. Stan

Yes, it is for a Victor. I just don't know anyone around here to fix the cracking. I may have to do some experimenting and attempt it myself. Any advice?
