Columbia Viva-Tonal Model 700
I have a line on one of these, and I'm wondering: How do they sound? To which Victor Orthophonic models would you say it's comparable? And what would be a fair price for one in good original condition?

Re: Columbia Viva-Tonal Model 700
I own several of these Columbia Viva-Tonals. Two big ones, the 800 and the 810, as well as the medium sized 720. I think the 720 would sound similar to the 700 even though mine is from 1928 and has a Motor of Quality instead of the old Columbia motor. They sound very loud and you might want to use medium tone needles if you want your music a bit quieter. They emphasize mid-range and treble notes. If it's in really good condition, both mechanism and cabinet, price would be somewhere around $250 - $350.
