VIC 5 question

It looks like the ID is 2 3/16 x 2 ¼

I just measured the opening end of a typical Vic V elbow and it measured 2.300", I then measured my later Schoolhouse elbow (with the rivot opening on top) and it measures 2.750" . What is the diameter of the slip in elbow on the backbracket?

Here is a picture of my late Victor V with a wood horn. The collar button and decal are in the correct position. Rotating a loose collar will put the decal upside down and on the wrong side of the machine.

Am I missing something here? It seems to me that if the collar is rotated properly, the horn will have the decal properly situated on the correct side. It would only be upside down if on the wrong side.

Does it have a 3 spring motor?

I remember seeing a very late Vic. V at Union years ago that had a 4 spring motor!

Here is that mahogany horn on the elbow. It does not have the rivet but a small block? Will this work until I can trade for an oak? and its a 3 spring motor!

I think you are good to go with that Mahogany horn until to find something you like better. That block is a modification and from what little I can see, your horn maybe one of the very earliest of Speartips. I once had one with a soft metal end, which looked like pewter, it didnt have a rivet but a bump to hold the slot. It was sketchy arrangement and always fell off. Looks like someone did a substantial mod to your metal end. It does not look like it will fall off.

Here is my late V with 24" Victor Morning Glory, large rivet and rightside up Nipper. But he is on the "other" side on this horn. I have not seen another so I cannot comment as to nippers orientation. But this enseble is all original.

Bob, mine only has a 3 spring motor! Cabinet is 18" square.

Beautiful machine! And as always thank you for the help. It looks a little mis matched with a dark horn but it still looks great. I was worried about that block type holding but it seems secure.
