Merry (Classical) Melodies on the Radiola 47

Post by beaumonde »

This morning I did a little recording of operatic and classical repertoire from my Radiola 47, using a Tascam CD recorder, Behringer mic mixer, and high-quality Audio Technica condenser microphones.

There are 16 selections, which I've uploaded to box.net and to mediafire. Rather than list the individual links, I thought I'd post links to the folders, and the files can be listened to or downloaded from there.

As you will notice, I've mixed electric and acoustic recordings. Acoustics play very well through this phonograph, IMHO. I even managed a few side joins!

Enjoy! (comments welcome, of course)

And, as an addendum, here is "Over There" pitched at 75 rpm instead of 78.26:

The innards. The tube on the left is a #45 output tube. I have a couple of spares; this one tends to get used up rather regularly, and can be pricy (oh well)

WOW! beautiful looking machine.

I'll listen to the selections later, when I have time. But that machine is incredible.

I'd like to see that puppy on YooToob.

Having heard this particular machine at it's home, I can assure everyone that the video, though very good,
doesn't entirely do the machine justice. The bass produced by the machine is deep rich and full, and the trebel
is good, despite an almost total absence of needle scratch.

I know, I know. I'm not too fond of the audio portion of the video. My camera doesn't do the sound justice. But the new audio-only recordings aren't too shabby! My microphones are quite good.
