Victor 2 on Craigslist
Late model Vic 2 with black 19" flower horn was listed for 1800.00 here on CL.The horn was straight but with lots of paint wear. The horn decal was clean.I emailed and was told it sold for 1400.00.Sounds a bit high for a Vic 2.What do you think???.

In this market, I'd say that damn high. I would think one could get a Vic 2 for just under a grand if he was patient.
Re: Victor 2 on Craigslist
I agree. I sold one not too long ago for around $800. $1,400 is pretty high. I am going to be selling a Vic III in about a week and hope to see $1000. But like you said, in this market, who knows?

That's what I thought.1800.00 I would say is nuts but, 1400.00 is still way too high.

Re: Victor 2 on Craigslist
Just to show how far off that price is. This ebay auction for a Vic II only went for $660.

Granted, this is quite the bargain, and there is something fishy going on. Despite the auction ending successfully (to a bidder with a 3 feedback rating
), it is up again, but this time with a reseve.

Re: Victor 2 on Craigslist
I'd agree that something is going on with that particular auction.
but I really don't think 1400 is way off base for a complete victor II or III, if in excellent condition - and especially if the motor and reproducer have been properly rebuilt. 1800 may be pushing it for a II, but it really depends on the particular machine, the condition, the provenance, a whole number of factors. I just wouldn't reject a 1400 price out of hand for simply being to high for a machine type - I think any estimate should be more specific to the particular machine under consideration.
be that as it may, there will always be people who consider pretty much anything aside from the true bargain or steal to be overpriced... and if you really don't care about waiting it out, hunting it down, maybe going far out of the way to get it, then sure, I'd even say 500 or 600 might be too much for an external horn victor, especially if purchased in the middle of nowhere from someone who has no idea what they have and doesn't really care to find out.
so far as victor II's (without distinguishing between the different models, the humpbacks, 1 vs. 2 spring, etc.), I've seen them often enough selling for between 900 and 1500 (and there's an online dealer who seems to typically sell them for a few hundred more than that), give or take, and add a bit more if the horn is wood rather than metal.

Re: Victor 2 on Craigslist
Just out of memory, I think I've been noticing a lot more bargains (or perhaps they stick out most in my mind). $900 I think is probably what I've noticed things going for. That I would say is an average machine. A little cleaning up. Motor and reproducer unserviced. No major problems. I'm sure a very clean machine that has a fully service motor and reproducer could easily fetch more, but since I usually don't frequent the places where one could get such a machine, I really don't know what that market looks like.

Re: Victor 2 on Craigslist
That does seem high, since, as noted, prices have fallen in the past few years, even in areas where these normally command big bucks, such as on the West Coast. Along this line, this Vic.I has been listed for sale in the Bay area for some time --gramophone78 wrote:Late model Vic 2 with black 19" flower horn was listed for 1800.00 here on CL.The horn was straight but with lots of paint wear. The horn decal was clean.I emailed and was told it sold for 1400.00.Sounds a bit high for a Vic 2.What do you think???.

Re: Victor 2 on Craigslist
I was able to save two of the pics that were on CL.Now,to me this machine looks clean and untouched. However, the horn does have some paint loss. So,I still think that the 1400.00 it sold for was a bit high.
