Edison Autostart Attachment?

Post by Dustie89 »

A fellow collector and I were recently discussing this strange attachment found on an Edison standard. Is this an autostart attachment? Anyone have any insight or information on this attachment? Says patent pending and holes were drilled into the bedplate affix the contraption.

Thanks

Seems to be an autostart, seems to be a not so distant relative to this one...

Thank you so much.

That is so very interesting. I'd like to get it back on a machine!

I saw that on Ebay, and now wish I would have bought it! I couldn't see everything clearly, from the pictures I saw originally. Why I didn't buy it was because I saw the broken "yoke" (I think that is what it is called) that would attach to the speed control screw. I thought that it might be some sort of an attempt to fix that problem. Now, I clearly see that was not the case! Congratulations on a nice find!!
