Hi everyone,
I just bought one of the LP's with Irving Kaufman from 1974, as I understand, it's basically old Kaufman 78's with a couple of "fresh" recordings with him, recorded in 1974. And I wonder if these are rare? I really have no idea when it comes to LP's, just thought it would be fun to have such late recordings by a recording pioneer.

Re: Reminisce with Irving Kaufman LP
I notice that the newer tracks on the Lp have very noticeable wow. Anybody know what kind of tape machine Irving & his wife used to make these last recordings? I got a nice cassette dub of this from Ryan Barna a few years ago, & it exhibites the same wow in the 1974 recordings. Too bad, as it seems a safe bet that these were the very last recordings Irving Kaufman made before his death two years later in 1976. We lived near Syracuse, NY when he died, which was where he lived then. I was 14 & knew who he was(had 78s of him), & I remember being surprised that he was still alive. To me it was akin to knowing(hypothetical) that Billy Murray or John McCormack were alive & kicking & living not even 20 miles from me while I was in high school! Almost too weird for my young brain to grasp at that time. Local FM stations WCNY & WAER had vintage music programs where Kaufman was one of many early singers featured. Lucky you! I heard that a fan persuaded the late Kaufman to perform all of his old songs before he passed away, I've been looking for this one for quite some time

Thanks for posting that! I just got the Irving Kaufman CD issued by Archeophone in the mail yesterday, and it contained lot's of info on Irving, and also these last recordings. Apparently, there was two albums released, so I'm not really sure if I got the one that's posted on YouTube or the other one, well, we'll find out soon. The record has been shipped!

As mentioned above, I just got the Irving Kaufman CD in the mail, and it contained some info on these last recordings. They used a reel-to-reel recorder and a microphone.dennman6 wrote:I notice that the newer tracks on the Lp have very noticeable wow. Apparently there was two albums issued, but I'm not sure which one I got. But I guess I'll have to look for the other one for a long time. I just found out that only 1,000 copies were pressed of each album.JHolmesesq wrote:Lucky you!
