Triumphal Return!

Just got back from picking up the Triumph I got on eBay.

The trip down was about an hour longer than I had anticipated, due to a horrible jam east of the river - an accident, by the look of it - but I managed to find the address; loaded everything in the car, and hurried home. I'll get the cylinder cabinet out of the back seat tomorrow.

Pictures will come later; but here's a teaser of the beautiful flowered "Mega" fiber horn that came with it.

Condition's pretty good: I'll need to repair a bottom board that came loose; and the pin striping seems to be gone. Otherwise, basic cleaning & lubrication are all it needs.

Now, if I can just get an O reproducer (and maybe a Diamond B), I'll be set.

So, I wrestled the cabinet into place, and started in to work with some Gojo and Flitz; here is the Triumph with at least some of a century's worth of grime removed. I'll probably do a couple more passes.

Side and front views:

On the back are 4 small screw holes, and the shadow of a plate: probably an earlier rear-mount crane.

Motor is strong and quiet. You can just see the break in the bottom board.

The cylinder cabinet will need some clamping and regluing, as some of the joints aren't quite in sync. There were a number of wax cylinders inside, most unplayable; but there were also a couple of Indestructibles, and, amazingly, a couple of unbroken wax Amberols.

More to come as I progress further.

Mostly GMs, a couple broken, and all with a lot of mold damage. There were a couple of moldy brown waxes as well.

Contacted Gregg Cline about decals for the bedplate & upper works. I may need a diagram for their proper placement, though.

Spent some time today removing the upper works, bedplate, and motor. I may have to use PB Blaster on some of the set screws.

Second round of Gojo, and the case is looking much better. I may want to concentrate on that black area in the lower right again:

I'll probably get some gouache and touch up the damage to the decal later.
